Bonnie is a calf whose world was turned upside down when she was only four months-old.
Bonnie spent the first few months of her life living on a farm in Upstate New York with her mother. All was going well until the farmer who owned them passed away, and all his livestock had to be sold. Bonnie realized that the odds were that she was about to be separated from her mother, so when her herd was being loaded onto a truck, she made a break for it.
Bonnie ran into the nearby woods as fast as she could!

Bonnie’s story became a legend, and nobody was quite sure if it was true. Though there were a few sightings of her in the forest, nobody could ever get close enough to catch her.
Residents of Holland, New York often spotted Bonnie walking around their properties, and they were divided on what should become of her.

When winter came and it began to snow, many were worried that Bonnie would not be able to survive in the wild alone. Luckily for her, however, she was not alone after all.

It turns out that Bonnie had been adopted by a herd of wild deer! They took in the calf and accepted her as one of their own.

Bonnie also had help from a woman named Becky, who would provide her with food, water, and fresh bedding. She eventually called Farm Sanctuary to get more help for Bonnie.

Workers with Farm Sanctuary tried to convince Bonnie to leave the woods, but she proved to be a stubborn calf. Finally, after eight months in the wilderness, rescuers were able to get Bonnie to a safe sanctuary where she can spend the rest of her days in peace.

Bonnie truly is a one of a kind cow! Find out more about her in the video below, and SHARE this story so your friends and family can see this as well!
