As owners of a mare named Daisy, Jenni Benson and her husband Guy were overjoyed when they learned that she was pregnant. After waiting for months for Daisy to give birth, the couple got a bit worried when she was 7 days overdue, and they were not quite sure what was going on.

Finally, Daisy went into labor and gave birth to a tiny palomino colt as Jenni and Guy looked on. As Guy waited to help the colt get up, they noticed that Daisy was acting very strangely. Seconds later, they found out why…

Guy was helping the colt, whom they named “Don Quixote,” stand up when Daisy started acting odd as she delivered her after birth. It quickly became apparent that what she was doing was not normal at all.

Daisy was acting like she was going into labor again, so Jenni reached inside her to see what was going on. She was stunned when she felt two feet, and Guy then pulled out a second foal! Daisy had given birth to twins.

Jenni and Guy waited to see if the baby was still alive, and they were overjoyed to find that she was!

They named the beautiful cremello filly Duet, and the baby was standing within minutes ready to be nursed by Daisy.

Twin births are very rare in the horse world, and the chances of them happening are 1 in 10,000. When they do happen, they usually result in one, two, or all three of the horses passing away. That’s what makes it even more amazing that Daisy and her babies survived!
