Zeke was an adorable black and white kitten, but he had a condition known as hydrocephalus. He was born with the condition known as “water on the brain.” It results when there is an increased amount of cerebrospinal fluid on the brain. It can result in neurological disorders and other health issues.
Little Zeke was no exception. Although his past isn’t well known, he had been put on death row and was awaiting euthanasia at a local shelter. Lisa Jones with Super Hero’s Animal Hydrocephalus Society saw Zeke on the shelter’s Facebook page and swooped into save him.
She says that Zeke was her little hot mess because not only does he have hydrocephalus, but he also has radial agenesis which means he doesn’t have the radius bone in his forearms making his legs twisted. He only has three toes on each of his front paws, and his tail was stubby and deformed.

After rescuing Zeke, Lisa brought him back to meet his new feline family at the sanctuary that specializes in cats just like Zeke. He had never seen cats like him, and little by little he began gaining confidence and coming out of his shell. Lisa says eventually he started acting just like any other kitten.
Lisa says that Zeke had to learn a new way to walk because of his leg deformities, and although he hasn’t quite figured out how to climb, he rolls, plays, and digs. He has formed a very strong bond with a hydrocephalic cat brother named Super Hero, and he has become like a second mother to Zeke.

He follows the little tot around to make sure he’s okay, cuddles him and watches him. If Zeke tries to go somewhere he isn’t supposed to, Super Hero herds him back to where he’s supposed to be with a gentle tap of his paw.
Zeke has now grown into an adult cat whose eyes sparkle and whose joy for life is easily seen in the smile on his face. While things could have ended much different for Zeke, thanks to Julie and Super Hero, Zeke knows what it’s like to be loved and cared for.

If you think Zeke’s story is amazing and heartwarming, please share it with your friends and bring a smile to their faces.
