It’s very difficult to win over the notoriously hard to please judge Simon Cowell on “Britain’s Got Talent,” but this father-son duo managed to do just that!
Tim Goodacre is a musician who lives in Norwich, United Kingdom with his three children. Tim has been performing around his town with his 12 year-old son Jack since the boy was 5 years-old, and he just decided they were ready to try their luck on the biggest talent competition in Britain!

Before their audition, Jack admitted to the judges that “Britain’s Got Talent” is his favorite show. However, when judge David Williamson asked him who his favorite judge was, the boy surprisingly said he likes Simon best because he finds his insults funny! Though David was not amused, Simon was certainly pleased by this!

Jack and Tim then got ready to sing an original song they wrote together. Called “The Lucky Ones,” Jack adorably explained that the song is “about how lucky we are to have what we have.”

The lyrics of the song were so powerful that they moved judge Amanda Holden to tears. Here’s an excerpt from the song:
“Promise me no matter how the years change us
You’re perfectly and perfect, just how you were meant to be
And all through our lives I’ll be yours
Say you will be mine
We’re the lucky ones. Only just begun
Others leave too young”
Once they had finished performing, all of the judges made it clear that they loved the audition. Simon was so touched by it that he even said Jack reminded him of his own son Eric.

“There was this kid and I was thinking, ‘God, that literally could be Eric’. It wouldn’t be me as the dad, but it could be Eric,” he said. “There was something about this boy, he sang with his dad and I thought the song they wrote was really cool.”
As the crowd gave Jack and Tim a standing ovation, Simon began to move towards the golden buzzer. If a judge hits this, the performer can skip all the rest of the audition rounds and go right to the lives shows. When Simon saw hosts Ant and Dec eying the buzzer as well, he knew he had to push it first!

“I caught a glimpse of Ant and Dec ready to run down and push the golden buzzer, and I thought, ‘No way! This one is mine!’” Simon said with a laugh. “I think they are really great people, it’s unusual to see a dad and his son, but it worked.”
“Jack, Tim, I think this says it all,” Simon said as he leaned over to hit the golden buzzer.
Jack could not believe his eyes when he realized he was going to the live shows thanks to Simon!

How cute is that?! We can’t wait to see where this adorable father and son go in the music business!
