Courtney and Phillip Garrett struggled to conceive a child in 2009 when Courtney was just in her late 20’s. Finally, understanding the conceiving naturally wasn’t likely, the couple decided to try in vitro fertilization (IVF).
Courtney, like many women, say the process is grueling, but the couple had success with the method when doctors successfully implanted two embryos in Courtney. That success soon became more than the couple had anticipated.
One of Courtney’s embryos split, leaving her now expecting triplets instead of twins. The odds of this happening is just one out of every 67 pregnancies, but the couple was elated with the news. They were going to be adding more to their family than they thought and they couldn’t have been happier.

Courtney gave birth to three healthy babies, Jack, Oliver, and Ellie. The couple was so happy about their first result, that they decided to give IVF another try last year to give the triplets a younger sibling.
At a routine sonogram, the couple saw two circles on the screen revealing that Courtney had become pregnant by IVF and natural means in the same month. Phillip joked that it would be funny if one of them split, and that is exactly what happened. The couple was now expecting another set of triplets.

The couple says that there is never a dull moment around their house with two sets of triplets. Each of the other triplets was assigned to one of their younger siblings to help watch out for, and they say it has made the bond between older and younger siblings even stronger.

Courtney and Phillip aren’t the only ones to have had amazing luck with IVF. Julie and Lance from Minnesota had gone through four rounds of IVF and three miscarriages. They had almost given up when they won a raffle for two free IVF cycles at a conference for couples trying to conceive.
The first free cycle resulted in ten viable embryos, and in quick succession, the couple welcomed their oldest daughter followed by three sets of twins. The couple still plans to implant Julie’s two remaining embryos later this year.

Julie says that all she has ever wanted was to be a mom and these children have fulfilled her life’s calling. Just like Courtney and Phillip, they are thankful for the blessings they have received and believe that each of their children is truly a miracle and blessing.
