It’s often incredibly difficult for people to put their loved ones in hospice care, as there are numerous horror stories on the internet about elderly patients being mistreated in these facilities by under-qualified nurses. Now, however, a video is going viral showing the positive side of hospice care that we often don’t get to see.

Contrary to what we often see online, hospice care workers are highly trained nurses who are trained to take care of elderly people who can no longer take care of themselves. Many of these nurses, such as the one in this video, love their jobs and are passionate about caring for the elderly.

While visiting her mother-in-law Mary at the Austinburg Nursing and Rehab Center in Austinburg, Ohio, Marti Adkins Redmond saw something that touched her so much that she knew she had to record it. In the video below, you’ll see hospice worker Joshua Woodward walk into the room and approach Mary’s bed. Without hesitating, he begins singing the Christian hymn “How Great Thou Art” to Mary as she rests peacefully.

“Hospice workers are angels but this hospice aide is special […] Mary taught voice and piano in her day and this aide Joshua Woodard was one of her students as a kid. Special people hospice workers are,” Marti wrote alongside the video.
