Yesterday, we reported that Meghan Markle had celebrated her fortieth birthday by releasing a new video of herself. This has since backfired on her, however, as experts are saying that she seemingly mocked Queen Elizabeth in this video.
“Anyone else think that Meghan and her friend Melissa McCartney [sic] were mocking the Queen in the birthday video?” royal expert Angela Levin said, according to The Express. “Both holding old-fashioned cup and saucer like Meg used in her blog after 1st meeting with Queen. Melissa sipping from the cup wearing fancy hat and gloves?”

Hannah Martin from the Talented Ladies Club also trashed Meghan for the video, saying that the wife of Prince Harry’s 40×40 idea is a “publicity stunt.”
“I’m sad to say that this also feels a little like a publicity stunt to me,” she said. “On the face of it it’s a great gesture, but beyond galvanising 40 of her friends to offer their time, there’s no structure or advice for how anyone can actually participate.”
“If Meghan is genuinely passionate about helping two million women back to work, it would be good to see more insights shared on what specific problems these women face, and proposed, concrete solutions that are followed through with on-the-ground action from the right people,” Martin added. “That really would be something to celebrate.”
Meghan used this video to promote her latest initiative.
“Over two million women in the U.S. alone and tens of millions around the world have lost their jobs due to Covid,” Meghan said. “And I think if we all do it and all commit 40 minutes to some sort of active service, we can create a ripple effect.”
“40 friends, activists, athletes, artists, and world leaders to help kickoff a global effort,” she added.
Meghan also promoted the initiative on her Archewell website.
“Amongst the most valuable gifts of time is also time spent in service to others knowing that it can contribute to incredible change,” Meghan wrote. “To that last point, and with my 40th lap around the sun in mind, it made me wonder: what would happen if we all committed 40 minutes to helping someone else or to mentoring someone in need? And then what would happen if we asked our friends to do the same?”
“I believe mentorship is one way to help women regain confidence and rebuild their economic strength, and for my birthday, I have asked 40 friends, activists, athletes, artists, and world leaders to help kickoff a global effort by contributing 40 minutes of mentorship to support women re-entering the workforce,” she added. “With this time, I hope they each help someone advance a professional life on her own terms, and, I hope that they inspire countless others to give 40 minutes of their time as well.”
