Yesterday, we reported that Meghan Markle had celebrated her fortieth birthday by releasing a new video of herself. She has since been publicly humiliated by some Australian television hosts who mocked her for being “too smiley” in the footage.

“I love that she’s lecturing people about getting back to the workplace and she quit her job as a royal after less than two years,” host Sophie Walsh said on Australia’s version of “Today,” according to Fox News.

“Why doesn’t she talk normally?” asked her cohost Kris Stefanovic.

Walsh then said that Meghan was “too smiley” before claiming that “Harry’s lost the plot.” He was seen juggling at the end of Meghan’s video.

Some social media users were quick to defend Meghan.

“The video was great, funny, mocking the English, and her 40×40 initiative is very clever. But I am disgusted by Karl and his antics! And whoever that woman sitting next to him is, it is because of people like her that the Sussexes left the UK. But, they are thriving and happy!” one user wrote.

“Why put this up when you all clearly with your disdain this morning for her put your knees on her neck! Do better! Just inform on the news we don’t need your hateful narrative of her,” another user commented, with a third writing, “Happy birthday to a beautiful woman mother and wife to a fantastic husband Harry ignore all the hatred that the media say and live your wonderful life.”

Meghan had used her birthday video to push her latest initiative with actress Melissa McCarthy.

“Over two million women in the U.S. alone and tens of millions around the world have lost their jobs due to Covid,” Meghan said. “And I think if we all do it and all commit 40 minutes to some sort of active service, we can create a ripple effect.”

“40 friends, activists, athletes, artists, and world leaders to help kickoff a global effort,” she added.

Meghan also promoted the initiative on her Archewell website.

“Amongst the most valuable gifts of time is also time spent in service to others knowing that it can contribute to incredible change,” Meghan wrote. “To that last point, and with my 40th lap around the sun in mind, it made me wonder: what would happen if we all committed 40 minutes to helping someone else or to mentoring someone in need? And then what would happen if we asked our friends to do the same?”

“I believe mentorship is one way to help women regain confidence and rebuild their economic strength, and for my birthday, I have asked 40 friends, activists, athletes, artists, and world leaders to help kickoff a global effort by contributing 40 minutes of mentorship to support women re-entering the workforce,” she added. “With this time, I hope they each help someone advance a professional life on her own terms, and, I hope that they inspire countless others to give 40 minutes of their time as well.”
