It’s been nearly three months since Prince Philip, who was married to Queen Elizabeth for 73 years, passed away at 99. Now, royal experts are speaking out to say that the 95 year-old Queen has left them shocked with her “jarring” behavioral change in the wake of his death.

“I think she has to put on a happy face for the public but also that’s not really in line with the British stiff upper lip,” royal expert Molly Mulshine said, according to The Express. “Maybe she’s sending a message that she’s a little bit more in her feelings and emotions than she would’ve been in the past. If you look at photos of her from the eighties and nineties, she never cracks a smile.”

Royal expert Joe Drake agreed, saying, “Maybe that’s why it’s so jarring. In these pictures I see, it’s full teeth – she looks like she’s having the time of her life.”

The Queen has stayed busy since Philip’s death with many different royal events. She flew to Scotland this week for her first trip since his passing for a week full of royal duties, according to Page Six.

The Queen has spent the past few days visiting many communities and sites in Scotland to celebrate the country’s culture and achievements after missing last year’s trip due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Sources had previously said that the Queen would keep carrying out her royal duties after Philip’s death.

“Her family will step up and be by her side, but she will carry on,” a former senior palace aide told People Magazine earlier this year. “She understands that she has a job to do, and [Philip] would have wanted her to crack on. She did do so when he retired from public life.”

The Queen’s grandson Prince William joined her on Monday to open a new facility for A.G. Barr’s Irn Bru soda brand near Glasglow. They then traveled to the official residence of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh, where she is set to stay over the course of the next four days.

William has since returned to London, where he unveiled a statue of his mother Princess Diana at Kensington Palace on Thursday. His younger brother Prince William joined him for this event.
