Meghan Markle and Gina Torres spent seven years starring together on the television show “Suits.” While Torres attended Meghan’s 2018 wedding to Prince Harry, she has recently admitted that she is no longer in touch with the duchess, and she was quick to humiliate the royal with a brutal joke.

The Express reported that Gina explained that she and Meghan were on “different trajectories” even before the royal romance, adding that she has still been “watching like everyone else” and cheering her on from afar. She also told a brutal joke about Meghan’s new role that has since made headlines around the world.

“You may or may not know this, but your former Suits star Meghan Markle is now the Duchess of Sussex,” said interviewer Jeremy Parsons. Gina fired back by saying, “I’m sorry, what? Really? I’ve been a little busy. I’ve heard rumors.”

As for why she and Meghan are no longer in touch, Gina said that there isn’t a particular reason.

“No, I’m not in touch with Meghan. There’s no story in why I’m not in touch with Meghan,” she said. “What I will say is ‒ if I could offer a window into what it is to be an actor and live this crazy life ‒ when you’re an actor, you meet hundreds of people during your career. The public only sees the characters that are on TV, but there are hundreds of people that make a show happen. If you’re fortunate enough of an actor as I am, that has had a varied career, you can’t bring all those people with you.”

“There are people you have immediate and incredible chemistry with that you align with throughout the years, that are sustainable relationships,” Gina added. “I enjoyed Meghan when we worked together. We had a great time as we worked together. We bore witness to a great many things in each other’s lives while we worked together. But we were also in very different places in our lives and in our careers.

“Would she have been one of the people I would have had a sustainable relationship with years later if this phenomenon had not happened?” she continued. “I don’t know. Perhaps not, because we were on such different trajectories. And there are others that you do, and there are others that you don’t. It’s a no-harm, no-foul thing. I got to absolutely give her my love and my best and wish her nothing but happiness at the wedding, and that’s the end of the story.”
