A source has come forward this week to say that Kate Middleton is just trying to “bring the family back together and alleviate her husband’s stress and sadness.” The insider added that Kate is “not the type to get het up” about the fallout from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s explosive tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey.

“The Duchess hasn’t said much about Oprah at all,” the source said, according to The Telegraph. “I think the bridesmaids’ dress comments were the least of anyone’s worries. And she’s not really the type to get het up about these sorts of things. She’s just trying to help to bring the family back together and alleviate her husband’s stress and sadness.”

“The question for the Duke is whether he is able to override the short term pain and damage to get back to the place he once was with his brother,” the insider added. “It’s very difficult when the trust has basically gone.”

Royal expert Camilla Tominey said that prior to the interview, Kate was telling people that it was not too late to “pull them back in,” referring to Harry and Meghan.

Harry and Prince William are set to reunite this week for the unveiling of a statue at Kensington Palace dedicated to their late mother Princess Diana. While sources say that the brothers will “put on a brave face,” a reconciliation is not expected.

“But the idea that this can all be forgiven and forgotten… it’s going to take a lot longer than a couple of days,” said one source.

This comes after one royal expert said that William and Kate are winning their PR war against Harry and Meghan.

“I am not heavily invested in the royal dramas but I find it interesting which side’s publicity team is looking to who,” royal commentator Kyle Gillies told The Express. “And who has the media onside. That is really the crux of who comes out looking like the good guy and who comes out as the bad guy. At the moment William and Kate are winning by 10 goals.”

“I think Meghan did come in and she probably with her American way was very ‘let’s get this done’ and then maybe upset the apple cart,” the royal expert added. “Maybe some of William’s staff did take exception to it. I tend to believe, William got put off slightly, then confronted Harry. Harry of course is going to defend Meghan.”
