Prince William and Kate Middleton have been publicly battling Prince Harry and Meghan Markle for over a year, and one royal commentator thinks that it is blatantly obvious who has pulled ahead in this war.
“I am not heavily invested in the royal dramas but I find it interesting which side’s publicity team is looking to who,” royal commentator Kyle Gillies told The Express. “And who has the media onside. That is really the crux of who comes out looking like the good guy and who comes out as the bad guy. At the moment William and Kate are winning by 10 goals.”
“I think Meghan did come in and she probably with her American way was very ‘let’s get this done’ and then maybe upset the apple cart,” the royal expert added. “Maybe some of William’s staff did take exception to it. I tend to believe, William got put off slightly, then confronted Harry. Harry of course is going to defend Meghan.”
In the end, Gillies feels that this rift between the two couples was inevitable.
“It was always going to happen,” she explained. “They decided to go their separate ways because they had one combined communications manager and perhaps that was never going to work. If they did stick it out, you wouldn’t have these warring sides.”
This comes after royal author Robert Lacey claimed in his book “Battle of the Brothers” that William reportedly told friends that he thought Meghan had an “agenda” and felt “hurt” and “betrayed” by the rift. William also reportedly said that Kate “had been wary of Meghan from the start,” according to an excerpt from the book obtained by the Times.
Lacey claimed that William felt that Meghan was “stealing his beloved brother away from him,” and that she did not understand how the Royal system worked.
“Meghan portrayed herself as the victim, but she was the bully,” said one Kensington Palace courtier. “People felt run over by her. They thought she was a complete narcissist and sociopath — basically unhinged.”
Royal staffers alleged that Meghan “played the victim, but was a bully” and treated courtiers poorly in line with her experiences in Hollywood. She then passed this on to Harry, who was heard “screaming” at staffers. Meghan and Harry have denied the bullying claims that have been made against them.
