Former first lady Michelle Obama took to social media on Sunday to pay tribute to her husband, the former President Barack Obama, and “all the dads out there” on Father’s Day.
“Happy #FathersDay to all the dads out there—especially the one and only @BarackObama!” Michelle wrote. “Our daughters couldn’t have asked for a better role model. We’re so lucky to have you in our lives.”
Michelle posted this alongside a photo of Barack with their two daughters, Malia and Sasha, during his time in the Oval Office over five years ago.

This came one day after Michelle shared a post also honoring her late father, Fraser Robinson III, who worked at a water filtration plant in Chicago died in 1991 at the age of 55, according to The Hill.
“It’s almost #FathersDay, so I’m thinking a lot about my dad: his baritone voice, his laugh that filled up the room, the way he always knew how to set the right mood by spinning up the perfect record,” Michelle wrote. “My father gave great advice, taught me the value of hard work, encouraged me to ask questions, and always gave me the space to do so. I always thought he was so cool—just look at this photo!”
“I’d love to hear about the fathers in your life who’ve helped you become who you are today—what qualities you value in them, what makes them unique, and what the best advice they’ve given you has been. #Fatherhood,” she added.

Earlier in the weekend, Barack said that his daughters are what gives him the most joy in life. He then boasted about the two young women taking part in last summer’s wave of racial justice protests after the police killing of George Floyd.
“I was proud of the fact that they participated in some of these protests, not in a high profile way, because they didn’t want to use their quasi-celebrity as a way of leading the parade, but as workers behind the scenes,” the former president explained. “That’s part of why I’m optimistic, because I’m seeing this next generation coming up.”
“When I see the two of them and the grace and kindness and sense of responsibility they have been to each other and to the wider world, of all the things I have accomplished in my life, my partnership with Michelle resulting in them, that makes everything worth it,” Obama added.
