Thomas Markle, the estranged father of Meghan Markle, spoke out this week to compare himself to Prince Charles, the dad of his son-in-law Prince Harry.

Thomas told “60 Minutes Australia” that he feels he and Charles are in the same position because of Meghan and Harry “ghosting” them both.

“I think we’d get along quite well, and it’s unfortunate what’s happened to him as well,” Thomas said of Charles. “He seems like a likable guy, and I actually appreciated the fact that he walked my daughter down the aisle. I certainly couldn’t have asked for a better replacement, although I would love to have done that.”

When asked if he sees similarities between Harry’s relationship with Charles and his own relationship with his daughter, Thomas replied, “Yes, I see them both ghosting their families completely.”

“Now they’re alone in a huge house they could probably accommodate 20 people in, and it’s just the four of them,” he continued. “But I don’t think they’re going to have relatives over for a barbecue tomorrow, or next week, or next month.”

Yahoo News reported that in his explosive tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey back in March, Harry said that his father stopped taking his calls after he stepped down as a senior royal last year.

“When we were in Canada, I had three conversations with my grandmother and two conversations with my father before he stopped taking my calls,” Harry said, adding that while “there’s a lot of hurt that’s happened,” he’d “continue to try and make it one of my priorities to try and heal that relationship.”

Thomas slammed Harry in his latest interview, saying that the royal “contradicts himself so much.”

“It’s like with my daughter – he said my daughter was thinking of suicide and he went to the royals and they wouldn’t help him,” Thomas said. “Well, you don’t go to the royals, you pick up the telephone and you call the doctor.”

In this same interview, Thomas lashed out at Oprah.

“I think Oprah Winfrey is playing Harry and Meghan,” said Thomas, who has not spoken to Meghan since before her wedding to Harry. “I think she’s using them to build her network and her new shows, and I think she’s taking advantage of a very weakened man and getting him to say things that you just shouldn’t be saying on television.”

“It seems to me that she’s pushing it to get more and more out of it, and Apple stock is going up,” he added, referring to Harry and Oprah’s new Apple TV+ series The Me You Can’t See. “Her show is going up. So to have someone bare their soul on four, five different shows to 50, 60 million people, even Dr. Phil wouldn’t do that.”
