It has just been announced that Queen Elizabeth will be hosting Joe and Jill Biden at Windsor Castle a week from Saturday on June 13.

“The Queen will meet the President of the United States of America and First Lady Jill Biden at Windsor Castle on Sunday, 13th June 2021,” Buckingham Palace confirmed in a statement. This will be Biden’s first trip overseas as president.

Entertainment Tonight reported that the Bidens are close with the Queen’s grandson, Prince Harry, whom they met while working with him through his charity event The Invictus Games, which honors wounded veterans.

When Prince Philip, the Queen’s husband of 73 years, passed away back in April at the age of 99, the Biden’s spoke out to offer their condolences to her.

“The impact of his decades of devoted public service is evident in the worthy causes he lifted up as patron, in the environmental efforts he championed, in the members of the Armed Forces that he supported, in the young people he inspired, and so much more,” they said in a statement, according to The Hill. “His legacy will live on not only through his family, but in all the charitable endeavors he shaped.”

Former Presidents Donald Trump and Barack Obama also honored Philip after his passing. Each of them had been hosted by the Queen in the United Kingdom as well during their respective times in office. Trump described the loss of Philip as an “irreplaceable loss for Great Britain.”

“Prince Philip defined British dignity and grace. He personified the quiet reserve, stern fortitude, and unbending integrity of the United Kingdom,” Trump said, according to The New York Post.

“He was admired by his fellow citizens, and respected by everyone around the world,” he added. “His exceptional example of service, constancy, and patriotism will be his greatest legacy.”

Obama also paid tribute to Philip, posting a statement to social media after his death.

“Through his extraordinary example, His Royal Highness Prince Philip proved that true partnership has room for both ambition and selflessness — all in service of something greater,” Obama tweeted. “Our thoughts are with Her Majesty the Queen, the Royal Family, and the British people.”

It will certainly be interesting to see how the Bidens’ visit with the Queen goes.
