Kate Middleton has reportedly already moved on after her sister-in-law Meghan Markle accused her of making her cry before her 2018 wedding to Prince Harry, according to a renowned royal expert.
British journalist Camilla Tominey wrote a piece for Stella Magazine in which she explained that Kate has shown herself to be a peacemaker between Harry and Prince William.
“Despite the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s Oprah Winfrey interview, when Kate was accused of making Meghan cry during a bridesmaid’s dress fitting and failing to support her, Kate rose decidedly above it all,” Tominey wrote.
Tominey was referring to the fact that in her tell-all interview with Oprah, Meghan claimed that despite reports that she made Kate cry before her wedding to Harry, “the reverse happened” and “it made me cry, and it really hurt my feelings.” Meghan added that Kate has since “apologized, and I’ve forgiven her.”
Tominey went on to say that during Prince Philip’s funeral last month, Kate tried to bridge the gap between Harry and William.
“Setting aside any personal resentment she may still feel about Harry and Meghan’s televised two-hour tell-all, Kate put her best foot forward in trying to carve a path to reconciliation between the brothers,” Tominey said.
In discussing Kate’s warmness towards Harry, Tominey said “It was a deft move that shows the Duchess is not overawed by all that’s going on.”
This comes after Kate’s uncle Gary Goldsmith told Australia’s 60 Minutes that the entire family is “massively disappointed” with Meghan and Harry’s decision to throw the royal family “under the bus” in their tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey back in March. He then attacked the couple for their claim that Kate made Meghan cry during a fight over bridesmaids’ dresses.
When asked about the claim that Kate made Meghan cry, Goldsmith said, “I don’t believe a word of it.”
“There were a lot of things in that interview I didn’t believe,” he continued. “Kate would always be the peacemaker in those situations. I think we saw at the funeral (for Prince Philip) that Kate is always trying to make peace.”
Goldsmith went on to add that Kate is “even lovelier on the inside than on the outside” and that if anyone had a hissy fit that day, it was certainly Meghan.
