Earlier this week, we reported that sources were saying that baseball legend Alex Rodriguez was struggling to “accept the harsh” truth that his ex Jennifer Lopez had rekindled her romance with her former fiancé Ben Affleck just one month after she ended her engagement to the MLB star. Now, however, another insider is speaking out to contradict these reports and say that Rodriguez is “fine.”
“Alex is doing fine,” a source told Page Six. “He’s been spending time with his family and concentrating on the Timberwolves deal. He’s concentrating on his kids and the team. That’s it.”
This comes after another insider told Us Weekly that Rodriguez is “in a world of pain” over the split, adding, “It’s the first time anyone can remember him being dumped like this, at least publicly.”
“Seeing her running straight back to Ben’s arms is a real kick in the teeth,” the insider added. “There’s a part of him that still clings onto the hope that they’ll wind up together again but deep down he’s had to accept the harsh truth that she’s over him and moving on with Ben.”
Rodriguez, 45, had been dating Lopez, 51, since 2017, and they were engaged for two years before she broke things off last month.
“We have realized we are better as friends and look forward to remaining so,” the former couple in a statement released in April. “We will continue to work together and support each other on our shared businesses and projects. We wish the best for each other and one another’s children. Out of respect for them, the only other comment we have to say is thank you to everyone who has sent kind words and support.”
Despite the fact that they tried to present a united front in this statement, however, Rodriguez is still hurt by her reuniting with Affleck, especially so soon after the breakup.
“While he and J. Lo have tried to sugar coat it, there’s zero doubt it’s really hurt his ego,” the source added. “Seeing her running straight back to Ben’s arms is a real kick in the teeth. There’s a part of him that still clings onto the hope that they’ll wind up together again but deep down he’s had to accept the harsh truth that she’s over him and moving on with Ben. It’s a tough pill to swallow but that’s his new reality.”
