Despite the fact that Prince William and Prince Harry reunited last month for the funeral of their grandfather Prince Philip, and they appeared to present a united front for it, a source is saying that they “are not talking” to one another now.

“All of my sources tell me that they are not talking at the moment,” royal expert Nick Bullen told US Weekly.

Despite this, Bullen still thinks William and Harry’s reunion for Philip’s funeral was a step in the right direction for the brothers.

“It’s pretty clear that the Duchess of Cambridge was doing her best to build the bridges,” he said, referring to William’s wife Kate Middleton. “Softly, softly seems to be the order of the day.”

William and Harry’s relationship has been rocky ever since the latter stepped down as a senior royal along with his wife Meghan Markle last year. Things only got worse back in March, when Harry and Meghan gave an explosive tell-all interview about the royal family to Oprah Winfrey. Among the claims Harry made during the interview was that William felt “trapped” in the royal family, an allegation that did not sit well with his older brother.

ITV journalist Tom Bradby recently told the London Times that William and Harry’s relationship “slowly descended into something that was difficult — personally and publicly — really over the past year and a half.”

“It used to be quite a straightforward thing, right, because they weren’t arguing and life was simple. And then it just slowly descended into something that was difficult — personally and publicly — really over the past year and a half,” said Bradby, who has been friends with the brothers for years.

This comes after a source said that while Harry and William are making baby steps towards mending their fractured relationship, they still have a ways to go.

“Harry did speak to William while he was in the U.K., so in that respect, they made some progress,” the source told US Weekly. “But they definitely haven’t reached the stage where all is forgiven nor have they buried the hatchet.”

It remains to be seen whether William and Harry will be able to heal this rift moving forward.
