Sarah Ferguson, the ex-wife of Prince Andrew, spoke out this week to reveal whether or not she supports Meghan Markle after the wife of Prince Harry announced that she has written a children’s book called “The Bench.”

Ferguson, who has written over seventy books herself, told Daily Mail that she unequivocally supports Meghan as the American makes her foray into the literary world.

“To sit down and work hard to write a book, in any genre, should be supported and respected,” Ferguson said. “To encourage literacy in general not just children’s books, is a love of mine and to encourage more women to delve into their creative selves and get a book out is very well done.”

This comes one month after British television personality Piers Morgan claimed that Ferguson had texted him messages of support over the fact that he refused to apologize for criticizing Meghan and her explosive tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey.

“Not all Royal duchesses were as thrilled as Meghan ‘Pinocchio’ Markle to see me leave GMB,” Morgan said, according to Page Six. “‘People have said how much they miss your morning joy and humour,’ texted Sarah, Duchess of York, ‘get back out there!’”

He then joked about possibly teaming up with Fergie to host a new show together.

“Perhaps we should start a new breakfast show together … ‘Morgy and Fergie in the Morning’, anyone?” he wrote.

As for Meghan’s new book, Morgan feels that the subject of it is “beyond parody.”

“Ms. Markle proudly informed us that her debut literary tome captures ‘the warmth, joy and comfort of the relationship between fathers and sons from all walks of life,'” Morgan said. “I wonder how much these touching sentiments will resonate with her own family, or her husband’s?”

Meghan was accused of being a hypocrite for writing a book celebrating fathers when she has not spoken to her own father for years, and her husband isn’t on the best of terms with his dad at the moment either.

“It’s very easy to talk about relationships between fathers and sons when they are two years old,” royal biographer Penny Junor told The Sun. “But problems come when the children are older — as Meghan found out with her father and Harry with Prince Charles.”

“So it is an odd thing to have done,” she added. “She is on dodgy ground because of her relationship with her father and Harry with his. But it is also a very schmaltzy book by the sounds of it.”

Angela Levin, Harry’s biographer, agreed with this assessment.

“Once again we have the hypocrisy of Meghan and Harry saying one thing but not doing it themselves,” she said. “I don’t know how you can write about a boy, a son or a father, when you haven’t spoken to your own father for years. It is extraordinary.”
