Earlier this week, we reported that Bindi Irwin, the daughter of the late “Crocodile Hunter” himself Steve Irwin, had given birth to her first child Grace. Now, Steve’s son Robert has revealed that he took his late father’s truck for his first-ever solo ride to visit his newborn niece.
Robert, 17, took to Instagram to post a photo of himself alongside his dad’s truck after passing his driver’s license test.
“Passed my driving test!” Robert wrote in the caption. “My first solo drive was a super special one – took my dad’s old Ute to see Grace in the hospital right after she was born.”

Robert had previously taken to Instagram to share a photo of him holding his newborn niece.
“Let the uncle adventures begin! Love you so much, Grace,” he wrote in that caption. “This little one picked the two best parents in the entire world. The most incredible, caring and strong Mum… and the funnest, coolest and kindest Dad. Love you three so much – I can’t wait for this exciting journey ahead!”

After giving birth to her daughter, Bindi revealed that she paid tribute to her late father with her name.
“March 25, 2021. Celebrating the two loves of my life. Happy first wedding anniversary to my sweetheart husband and day of birth to our beautiful daughter. Grace Warrior Irwin Powell,” Bindi wrote in an Instagram post. “Our graceful warrior is the most beautiful light. Grace is named after my great-grandmother, and relatives in Chandler’s family dating back to the 1700s. Her middle names, Warrior Irwin, are a tribute to my dad and his legacy as the most incredible Wildlife Warrior.”
“Her last name is Powell and she already has such a kind soul just like her dad,” she added. “There are no words to describe the infinite amount of love in our hearts for our sweet baby girl. She chose the perfect day to be born and we feel tremendously blessed.”

Bindi revealed that Grace was born at 5:52 p.m. on March 25, which happened to also be her first wedding anniversary with her husband Chandler. The baby was born weighing seven pounds, seven ounces, and 20 inches long.
“Grace Warrior Irwin Powell. After waiting for you to arrive for the last 9 months, finally meeting you has been the best moment of my life,” Chandler wrote on his own Instagram page. “You have a big life ahead of you and no matter what, you will be surrounded by a whole lot of love. Thank you for gracing your beautiful mother and me on our wedding anniversary, so excited to have you home.”
