The Hollywood star Jennifer Garner just opened up about being a mom like never before, admitting that while it is rewarding, it can also be very frustrating at times.

Garner is mom to son Samuel, 9, and daughters Violet, 15, and Seraphina, 12, with her ex-husband Ben Affleck. In a new interview with People Magazine, she revealed some of the things her children do that irritate her.

“Kids who ignore you when you talk to them five times in a row. When they’re mean to each other. Or when they won’t try and they just like, lay on the floor,” she said. “And then I realize I basically do the same thing. I mean, sometimes you just have to walk away from your kids. You don’t even have to announce it. Or you just say, ‘Oops. Hold on. I think somebody’s calling me in the other room.’ You just have to get away.”

While Garner appears to be a happy-go-lucky person all the time, she admits that she’s had some struggles in the past year amidst COVID-19.

“I don’t know that I’ve stayed positive the whole time,” she said. “I think I’ve had a couple of temper tantrums. And I hope [my kids] have too. I think you have to. It’s like, have your feelings. But there’s so much to be grateful for.”

Garner just appeared in the new movie Yes Day, which is about two parents who grant their children the opportunity to make the rules for just one day out of the year. As for what she’d do on her own special day, Garner said she’d start the day with ice cream, or have brunch with friends.

“I would probably go to this little café, Huckleberry, and have the green eggs and ham there, which is this prosciutto and pesto and homemade English muffin,” Garner said. “Great cappuccino, a few close girlfriends. There’d be a fun group workout. Probably a walk. Enjoy a beautiful sky. With lots of talking and then probably mix in some kid time. We all just need an adventure.”

Earlier this month, Garner opened up about why this has been a “hard year for moms.”

“This has been such a hard year for moms. We have had to say ‘No, no, no.’ We’ve had to watch our kids be home, miss out on things. It is one thing to miss out on something as an adult, but to watch your kids miss something they have looked forward to or just how hard it has been to see them isolated and on Zoom every day… this is a breath of fresh air,” Garner told Entertainment Tonight of her new movie. “This is a wish-fulfillment day of yes, and it is just so fun to watch moms watch the movie.”
