The country music world is in mourning this week after it was revealed that rising star Taylor Dee was killed in a rollover car crash on March 14. She was only 33 years-old.
KTVT reported that Dee, who was born Taylor Dawn Carroll, was killed in a rollover car crash on State Highway 183 near. The young singer’s death was confirmed by Linda Wilson, president of the Texas Country Music Association.
“Taylor Dee was the real deal — a true talent with a heart and passion not only for her music but for people,” Wilson said in a statement. “In every performance, her talent was evident, but more importantly she allowed her fans to know her heart. She will be missed tremendously.”
After investigating the incident, police believe that Dee was trying to exit to Highway 360 when she may have missed the turn.
“She struck a barrier,” said Euless City Police Department Chief Mike Brown. He added that her 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer then started to roll and hit an overhead sign, ejecting her from the vehicle in the process. Dee was not wearing a seatbelt at the time, according to Euless Police Sgt. Scott Peterson.
Peterson went on to add that there was a second passenger in the vehicle who was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, and this person was left with only a broken toe.
People Magazine reported that the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office has performed toxicology tests to see if alcohol was a factor in the crash, and the results are pending at this time.
Dee released her first single, “The Buzz,” in 2019, which you can check out below.
She is survived by her two children, a son Vayden and a daughter River. A GoFundMe campaign has been created in her honor in the wake of her passing, and at the time of this writing, it has raised over $12,000.
“Taylor Carroll aka Taylor Dee was a shining star who was going to make it in this world and chasing her dreams like the rest of us wish we could,” the page’s description stated. “She was a great mother of two beautiful children that she will be leaving behind.
