It’s been a difficult month for the British royal family in the wake of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s explosive tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey last week. That’s why it came as a fun surprise for royal fans when Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton got to show off their flirty side in a new St. Patrick’s Day video message that they took part in with various world leaders.

The video opens with both William and Kate rocking some festive green outfits, and he kicks things off by sharing a message in the traditional Irish language.

“We’re delighted to wish you all a very Happy St. Patrick’s Day!” Kate added.

William then turns to his wife and jokingly says, “How come you got that easy bit?” while she smiles back at him sweetly.

William and Kate then shared memories of their last trip to Ireland, which happened before the COVID-19 pandemic hit.

“We were so thrilled to be able to visit Ireland just over a year ago, a few short weeks before all of our lives were turned upside-down by the pandemic,” William said, with Kate adding, “The warm welcome that we received everywhere was a testament to the friendship between our two countries and the strength of the relationship between the U.K. and Ireland.”

While William and Kate look happy in this clip, royal experts have said that they have been struggling since Harry and Meghan’s interview.

“William is devastated by this interview,” said royal expert Katie Nicholl. “Don’t forget that the Duchess of Cambridge is being dragged into this whole saga and William will hate that and of course, relationship between father and son is of course at an all-time low.”

“I think that the idea that Kate’s being dragged into this will be upsetting for Kate who behind the scenes has tried really hard to be a peacemaker between William and Harry,” the expert continued. “She has been deeply saddened by the brothers’ falling out. Don’t forget she was incredibly close to Harry herself.”

Nicholl later added to OK! Magazine that Kate did not take the interview well either.

“This has been a very hard few days for Kate, but she turned up and was committed to her work and duty last week,” Nicholl said. “People did notice that she appeared downcast and subdued. Behind closed doors, she has been saddened, disappointed and hurt.”

“From what I hear, there are different versions of the bridesmaid story, not just the one Meghan discussed,” she added. “Kate felt it was all sorted, so to have it brought up again was mortifying. Kate is not in a position to respond and Meghan and Harry know that.”
