Princess Eugenie gave birth to her first child with her husband Jack Brooksbank on February 9. Now, the granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth has revealed the baby’s name.

Fox News reported that Buckingham Palace has confirmed that Eugenie named her son August Philip Hawke Brooksbank. He was born at London’s Portland Hospital, weighing eight pounds, one ounce.

Eugenie shared her son’s name on on Instagram along with a sweet family photo of herself with her husband and son.

“Thank you for so many wonderful messages,” she wrote in the caption. “Our hearts are full of love for this little human, words can’t express. We are excited to be able to share these photos with you.⁣⁣📸 By our wonderful midwife. Thank you to the wonderful essential workers including our midwife who came to discharge our boy.”

August is the ninth great grandchild of Queen Elizabeth, and the first grandchild of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson. Eugenie explained that he is named after his great-great-great-great-great-grandfather Prince Albert, husband of Queen Victoria, who had Augustus as a middle name.

Eugenie’s son is not expected to get a royal title and will be known as Master August Brooksbank.

“Her Royal Highness Princess Eugenie was safely delivered of a son today, 9th February 2021, at 8: 55 a.m. at The Portland Hospital,” the palace said in a statement on the day he was born. “The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Duke of York, Sarah, Duchess of York, and Mr. and Mrs. George Brooksbank have been informed and are delighted with the news. Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well.”

This comes after Eugenie’s cousin Prince Harry announced that he and Meghan Markle are expecting their second child.

“We can confirm that Archie is going to be a big brother. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are overjoyed to be expecting their second child,” their spokesperson said in revealing Meghan’s pregnancy to the world.

“They are besotted parents, and they can’t wait to share that even more with a second child,” the royal insider continued. “They are both so happy to have their little family.”

A source close to the couple told People Magazine that Harry and Meghan were “hopeful that they would get pregnant again. And they were overjoyed that it happened so quickly.” Even so, after the “devastating” miscarriage, the source added that “they were both nervous, and it took them a while before they could relax and fully enjoy this pregnancy.”
