“After the heartbreaking loss of a baby last year, we’re overjoyed to share that another little Seewald is on the way,” said the couple.

The little one will be joining a full house led by big brothers Spurgeon (4) and Henry (3), and big sister Ivy who will turn two in May. In their announcement video, Jessa shares:

“Spurgeon and Henry are very excited. They understand. We have little pregnancy apps on my phone that we look at and they get to see updates of the baby’s progress and growth.”

While the couple are aware of the sex of the baby, they have always kept that part of the pregnancy a secret until their babies have been born. But Jessa shared that her sons are at an age where they’ve expressed quite a bit of interest in her pregnancy and are excited to track the baby’s development, so they may bring them in on the secret. Little Ivy is still too young to understand that she’ll soon be getting a new sibling.

“Ivy, I don’t think she quite understands,” she added of her toddler. “We talked about, ‘We’re going to have a baby.’ And she says, ‘Baby?’ I don’t think she quite gets it. I think it’s going to be a shock whenever baby comes.”

“I think one of the big highlights this year will be bringing the baby into the family — we’re really excited to see [Ivy’s] role as a big sister,” Jessa concluded. “She’s going to be good at that.”

The latest Seewald baby will make the 21st grandchild for 19 Kids and Counting stars Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar. The entire family can’t wait see if the new baby will be a boy or a girl, as the family is set to welcome their 7th granddaughter in a row since Ivy’s birth in May of 2019!
