There’s no denying the strength of the bond between sisters, and Kalista Hesch and her 11-year-old sister Worthy Rigelsky are evident of this. The two have become TikTok famous for their fun loving videos that depict the sisters dancing and being silly, and showcase Worthy’s hairstyling and makeup skills which she likes to practice on her big sister.

Part of what makes the sisters from Wisconsin so enjoyable to watch is the joy exuded by Worthy, who was adopted from China six years ago and has Downs Syndrome. In speaking to PEOPLE, Kalista describes her sister:

“Worthy is, if I could describe her in one word, she’s just ‘pure joy,’ that’s always the first word that comes to mind.”

Their shot to fame started when Kalista came home one day and decided to stay the night at her parents’ house. The night turned into a full-on “sleepover” party between the sisters, and the two discovered their mutual love for the social media app TikTok.

“I put on a song and she was just standing behind me and she was just fixing my shirt and adjusting my necklace and went like this to my hair and everyone just flipped out,” Kalista recalls. “She’s just such a little perfectionist, she just wants to fix you up and make sure everything’s okay and every little detail’s perfect.”

While most people are aware that individuals diagnosed with Downs Syndrome are often characterized by developmental delays and intellectual disabilities, what often gets overlooked is their almost constant happy and loving dispositions.

“She’s just like a little perfectionist and she’s just always been, like I said she’s just pure love, so she just loves touching, she’s just so lovable, and when anyone comes over she just grabs a hairbrush and immediately starts brushing their hair,” Kalista says of her sister.

Kalista goes on to add:

“She definitely has her moments, she’s human too so she’s not always 100 percent happy, but I would say 99 percent of the time she’s always just pure joy and just happy.”

Between their TikTok and Instagram accounts, the pair have become quite the sensation, building a following of tens of thousands and garnering millions of views on their videos and pictures.

“Worthy literally means the world to me,” Kalista says. “Every day that I come over to my parents’ and see her big smile, I’m just so grateful to have her in my life… I don’t know what I would do without her.”
