Shocking new reports are coming in stating that Ghislaine Maxwell, the alleged former madam of the late billionaire pedophile Jeffrey Epstein, is planning to pay a $30 million bail with the hopes of being home for Christmas, and most of the money is set to come from her tech entrepreneur husband.
Daily Mail reported that it has just been confirmed that Maxwell, 58, is in fact married to tech entrepreneur Scott Borgerson, who is “devastated” that she is in prison. He is allegedly planning to put up $25 million of the bail as a security which will be forfeited if she flees before trial. The other $5 million of the bail will be put up by Maxwell’s siblings.
Maxwell’s legal team is planning to present this package to a judge in the coming days in the hopes of getting the British socialite home for Christmas. These reports came as a bit of a shock in that it is the first time it was confirmed that Maxwell and Borgerson were married, as previous reports had described him as her lover.
It was previously reported that Maxwell and Borgerson lived together at their $2.4 million oceanfront home in Manchester-by-the-sea in Massachusetts before she bought her own home in New Hampshire, where she was arrested by the FBI in July.
Borgerson stepped down from his post as chief executive of shipping data company CargoMetrics earlier this year to “ensure his presence would not become a distraction from the work he believes in so deeply.”
Maxwell was arrested charges related to her allegedly grooming young girls for sex with Epstein, and sometimes participating in the abuse herself. She was then remanded to prison after a judge deemed her to pose a significant flight risk given her vast amount of wealth and her International connections. At this time, Maxwell is set to remain behind bars until the start of her trial, which is scheduled for July of 2021.
The new reports state that Maxwell is willing to hand over all of her passports, and to give up any right to prevent her extradition from France in the hopes of a judge granting her bail. She currently has a French passport, and there is no extradition treaty between the US and France. In addition, Maxwell will agree to wear an electronic tag and submit to home confinement.
