The disgraced 68 year-old Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein got a special visit in prison on Friday from his 27 year-old girlfriend, actress Alexandra Vino.
Daily Mail reported that Vino spent several hours chatting with Weinstein at the Wende Correctional Facility in Alden, New York, which is 20 miles east of Buffalo. Weinstein has been incarcerated there for the past eight and a half months after being sentenced to 23 years in prison for rape and sexual assault.
“They were in a back room that is kept specially for prisoners in IPC — involuntary protective custody,” a source who witnessed the meeting said. “He got up several times to use the bathroom. He can still only get about with a walker, just like when he was in court, but the difference between then and now is that he has a lot more color in his cheeks, he didn’t look so deathly ill.”
“She had to keep away from him, there is no hugging or touching now, and of course, they both had to wear a mask,” the insider added. “But they sat close together, and I am sure if it weren’t for the COVID restrictions they would have been holding hands. ‘Their visit, like all those in IPC was filmed — there was a camera on a tripod in the room with them. A correction officer sat by the camera and two more were stationed just outside the door.”
Vino reportedly arrived at the prison early in the morning and stayed there until visiting time ended at 3pm, according to the source.
“She just looked so happy to see him,” the insider continued. “Her hair was neatly pulled back and she went to the coffee machine several times and brought back drinks for both of them.”
Vino has long stood by Weinstein, and was even seen canoodling with him at various New York City hotspots when he was out on bail.
“Everyone seems to f**king hate Harvey but they don’t realize they don’t really hate Harvey,” she once said. “They are being told how to feel. He is a scapegoat for this entire #MeToo movement and they’ve destroyed his life. It’s been like a human sacrifice. People get 23 years in prison for murdering people, not for what he did.”
