It’s been five years since the actress, singer and television personality Kathie Lee Gifford’s husband Frank passed away. Now, Gifford is saying that she’s “open to love in any way it comes into my life.”

“I’ve always been open to love in any way it comes into my life,” Gifford, 67, told Parade. “I can’t live without love. You can breathe, you can exist, but you can’t live without it. I could live without romance; I don’t want to—I’m a very passionate woman. I’m open to it, but I’m not actively looking for it.”

Gifford went on to talk about how busy she has stayed in the years since her husband died.

“I could have locked myself up in my house after my husband passed,” she explained. “I could have stayed in my beautiful home in Connecticut and not taken steps to make a brand-new life at age 65 when most people are retiring. I never have considered the word retiring. I’m refiring.”

When Gifford is not busy working, she enjoys spending time with her two adult children and their spouses. When asked if she is looking forward to becoming a grandmother, however, Gifford insisted that she is not pressuring her children to give her grandkids at all.

“I don’t even think about it. I truly don’t,” she said. “My daughter and her husband have just bought a home down here. When my kids became adults, I stopped giving my advice and my opinion until they ask for it. I’m happy to give them anything they want or need now, but they’ve both chosen the person they want to spend their life with. I adore both of them. They’re precious. Our family is filling up and it’s beautiful.”

“But I am not one of those people like, ‘Are you pregnant? When are you getting pregnant?’ That’s none of my business,” Gifford added. “I want them to be happy, healthy, walk with God and live their lives authentically and with joy. If the Lord blesses them with children and that makes me a grandmother, I’ll be delighted, I’ll be thrilled. But it’ll be just one more blessing on a stack of them that He’s blessed me with all my life.”

Gifford talks more about her life experiences in her new book “It’s Never Too Late: Make the Next Act of Your Life the Best Act of Your Life,” which is due out on Tuesday. She also talks about what the future holds for her.

“I know I still have truths to learn. I don’t know everything I’m going to know on the day I die,” Gifford said. “I talk in the book about how on the day I die I want to learn something brand-new. On the day I die, I want to have written the best lyric God ever gave me. I want to be fully alive on the day that I die.”
