Hollywood star Ryan Reynolds just showed what a class act he really is once again when he stepped up to offer a $5,000 reward for a woman’s stolen Build-A-Bear that included a recording from her late mother.

“Vancouver: $5,000 to anyone who returns this bear to Mara. Zero questions asked. I think we all need this bear to come home,” tweeted Reynolds, who is a Canadian himself.

The Deadpool star tweeted this alongside a CBC article in which the significance of the stuffed animal to Vancouver resident Mara Soriano is explained.

Soriano, 28, explained that she had a recording of her mother’s voice put into a specially-made Build-A-Bear after her mom went into hospice care for cancer treatment.

“At hospice her voice was different. Much softer. Not the mom I grew up with,” she said. “That bear is the last memory I have of her speaking in her normal voice. She said that she loved me and she was proud of me and that she’ll always be with me.”

Soriano’s mother tragically lost her battle with cancer in June of 2019. The young woman said that the bear was stolen when she was distracted while unpacking a van after a move. Though the stolen bag also held Soriano’s blank checkbook,  green card, social insurance cards, her and her husband’s passports, and an iPad, she is most worried about getting the bear back.

“It’s a reminder of home,” she said. “The bear has a message in it in Filipino. It says ‘I love you,’ but in our language. So it’s very specific and very unique.”

“I just really want to find my bear,” Soriano added. “That’s all that I care about.”

Reynolds’ tweet has since gone mega-viral, garnering over 330,000 likes. Fans have pointed out that Reynolds may have been drawn to the story because he has a connection to teddy bears, as he has a brief cameo in the movie Ted. He is also a father of three young daughters with his wife, former “Gossip Girl” star Blake Lively, so there is undoubtedly no shortage of stuffed animals in his home!

Please join us in saying a prayer that this very special bear is returned safe and sound.
