The Bush family announced yesterday that one of the beloved members of the family is in ailing health and needs prayers during their final days on earth. A spokesperson for the family announced that Barbara Bush, former first lady, is failing.

Barbara has had several recent hospitalizations, and the 92-year-old has decided to not seek additional treatments for her health and instead will receive comfort care only.

Comfort care is typically given at the end of someone’s life to help ease pain and improve happiness during whatever time they have left on this earth. The announcement also said that Barbara made this decision herself and has been a rock while facing her failing health.

She’s been more concerned about the people around her than she is herself due to her strong Christian faith. She thanks everyone that has offered her kind messages and prayers, said the spokesperson.

Barbara’s husband, 93-year-old former President George H.W. Bush recently recovered from a bout with pneumonia, but is luckily back home and doing well. The couple have been married since 1945 and share six children.

Franklin Graham, son of the late Reverend Billy Graham, offered up his prayers for Barbara and the rest of the family, and says he is sure the family will appreciate any prayers we lift up for them.
