Fans of actress Kelly Carlson, who spent years starring on the popular FX television show “Nip/Tuck,” have wondered for years where she’s gone, as she has not acted onscreen since 2013. Now, they have gotten their answer, as it turns out Carlson left Hollywood behind for love with a Navy man.

During an Instagram Live earlier this month, Carlson was asked by a fan, “Are you still acting? And if not, why did you decide to give it up?”

“I’m not acting right now,” the 44 year-old star said. She went on to explain that she left Los Angeles with her husband, Dan Stanchfield, to move to San Diego because of his Navy career.

“Why am I not acting?” she said. “Not for any reason, really. Just that we live far away. I need to be in L.A. and we’re not for my husband’s work, which is down – he’s in the Navy, so we’re way down in southern San Diego. And that’s kind of it.

Carlson showed that she has no regrets by proudly stating on her Instagram bio that she is a “former actress of TV and Film and now Navy wife.”

In her Instagram Live, she made sure to stress that “nothing bad happened or anything like that” during her time in Hollywood.

“I loved it, loved my life up there,” Carlson added, going on to explain that her husband “has a business where we kind of need to be out of the city too and so now he’s the star of the family and I’m the manager wife.”

Carlson then directly addressed her husband, who was holding the camera, asking him “Am I not?”

“Yeah, exactly,” he replied, with Carlson adding, “It was just a decision, right, so that’s all.”

Though she is more than happy with her life now, Carlson has not ruled out a comeback.

“Maybe I’ll go back one day, I don’t know,” said Carlson. “I’m open. I’m kind of a free spirit. I kind of am, and I’m kind of not. But I’m always up for new experiences. And Dan is such a great guy, I’m not gonna say no. Yeah, you don’t say no to this kind… No, no. You make adjustments.”

“And it’s not that he asked me to leave,” she added. “He didn’t at all. It was like I saw a lot of value in what he was doing and so I said we have to go do it. And so we moved.”

It’s nice to see someone who managed to get out of the crazy world of Hollywood in one piece, and is now so content with married life to a Navy man!
