Academy Award-winning actor Tom Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson were two of the first Hollywood stars to reveal that they had tested positive for coronavirus. Now that they have each thankfully recovered, Hanks has spoken out to reveal what it was really like to battle the disease that has killed hundreds of thousands of people all over the globe.

“Rita went through a tougher time than I did,” said Hanks, 63, per Us Weekly. “She had a much higher fever. She had lost her sense of taste and sense of smell.”

The Forrest Gump star added that as for himself, he “had some bad body aches and was very fatigued, and that’s how the COVID-19 went through us.”

Hanks went on to say that while he was quarantining himself as he recovered, he tried to stay in shape by doing 30-minute stretch sessions, as well as other “old man things.”

“I was wiped after 12 minutes,” Hanks confessed.

Hanks and Wilson were in Australia filming a movie when they tested positive, so they were forced to stay there while they recovered.

“It was relatively early in Australia’s response to the coronavirus, and they wanted us to not give it to anyone else,” said Hanks. “That’s why we were in lockdown.”

This comes after Wilson discussed her battle with coronavirus while appearing on “The Talk.”

“I was very tired. I felt extremely achy,” Wilson said, according to Fox News. “Uncomfortable, didn’t want to be touched and then the fever started. Chills like I’ve never had before. Looking back, I realize I was also losing my sense of taste and smell which I didn’t realize at the time.”

She added that she thinks her fever “got close to 102.”

Hanks had previously joked about fighting coronavirus while hosting “Saturday Night Live” earlier this month, saying he was “the celebrity canary of the coal mine for the coronavirus” and “more like America’s dad than ever before since no one wants to be around me very long and I make people uncomfortable.”

“But now my wife and I are doing fine, doing great. We’re hunkered down, like all of us should be. In fact, this suit, this is the first time I’ve worn anything other than sweatpants since March 11,” he said of his quarantine gear. “My wife had to help me put it on.”

We’re so glad to see that Hanks and Wilson seem to be doing so well!
