There is no doubt that this scenario hasn’t crossed the mind of every woman who intends on having children. Honestly, even if they don’t it’s possible they’ve still thought about it.
Just think: the ultrasound shows you’re expecting one child, but when it’s go time you get twins.
That’s what happened to Lyndsey Altice, 30, two minutes after her first daughter was born, a surprise twin followed.
Lyndsey and her husband Wesley, 33, have shared photos of the big day and can be seen sitting open-mouthed in a birthing pool as midwives handed her a second child that nobody knew was coming.

As you’d imagine, the Wisconsin couple was in complete shock — seriously, Lyndsey says her only only regret being that she didn’t have a picture of her husband’s face when he saw a second baby born.
According to the Mirror, Altice said, “I was immediately suspicious when Ada came out so small, I had put on double the weight I did with my last birth so I didn’t understand how she could be so tiny.
She added, “When I had my son Django a few years previous, he was 9 lbs and I put on less weight with him so it was really odd.”
Can you imagine?
She continued to say, “The next contraction was almost instant, I knew before the nurses started saying what they thought it was, I could feel the baby coming, but could not communicate it through the contraction.”
There was a seventeen minute gap between Ada Maze and Billie June’s births. The mom of three said, “There are no words to describe what I was thinking when I realized I was about to have another baby right there and then.
“I was in pure shock too, I had a million thoughts that I couldn’t process because I was completely overwhelmed so i just submitted to the moment, I think my face says it all.”

Lyndsey gave birth to her girls last July and her pregnancy showed no signs that she had a second baby growing inside her at any point.
She said: “I found a midwife when we knew I was pregnant and through the whole pregnancy everything was just like when I had my son, I measured my fundal height which always matched what it would be for having one baby for each week I measured.” She said, “I wasn’t doing ultrasound because I wasn’t a high risk so unless I needed to, if I felt something was wrong for example.
“When I did have an ultrasound with a sonographer, who did an extensive ultrasound of all four quadrants, it still didn’t show Billie-June.”
After everything she went back to the recording of her ultrasound and still couldn’t see a second baby when she knew both babies were there.
She said: “When it first happened we were just having a total ‘oh crap’ moment, but now that we have settled and we know how to look after twins we just love it.
“It’s a total blessing in disguise.”
We’ll say!
