Police officers have to be prepared for anything when they go out on patrol, as they often see a wide variety of unexpected things. They never know where they will be asked to go when they arrive for their shift, and though searching the woods behind a Walmart may not be their ideal assignment, that’s exactly what these two police officers were recently asked to do in Sacramento, California.

Deputies Johnny Le and Tim Yee were asked to search the back of the Walmart to get rid of trespassers that had been spotted in the area. When the officers arrived, however, they saw something they were not expecting.

While canvassing the woods behind the store, Le and Yee came upon a mother and her three children. As soon as the officers got one look at the children’s faces, they became choked up, as they knew something wasn’t right.

The officers cautiously approached the mother, who immediately feared the worst. She knew she was doing nothing wrong and was simply trying to help her family survive, but she had no idea if the officers would see things that way.

The cops learned that the mother’s name was Sharon Loveless, and she admitted that she had been living in a van with her children for four months. She had taken her family behind the Walmart to make lunch because she thought they would be safer back there. Sharon and her children then began to panic when the officers explained that they had no choice but to take them away, as they had no idea where they were going.

However, it was where the cops ended up taking them that left the family shocked! Sharon was so touched by what the officers did that she was brought to tears!

Far too many stories these days seem to portray police officers in a negative light, but this one shows the side of our nation’s law enforcement that we often do not get to see.
