Best known for her roles on the television shows “Charmed” and “90210”, actress Shannen Doherty fought through a devastating revelation when she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015. New lab results show that the fight may not be over.

In August 2015, Doherty announced to the world that she was fighting breast cancer and that she was eating right, exercising, and keeping a positive attitude. Even through the struggles, she was determined to survive and beat the cancer.

She went through two rounds of chemotherapy and was devastated when her hair fell out. She recalls standing in front of the mirror and seeing her hair matted, almost like dreadlocks. She tried to brush it and the hair just fell out. She ran to her mother in tears.

Instead of succumbing to the treatment, Doherty shaved her head. She says she cut it into a pixie first, then a mohawk, which she says was her favorite, and finally shaved her head bald. Two years after starting her treatment, Doherty let her fans know that she was finally in remission.

Doherty was well aware that remission didn’t mean that she was free of cancer. She says she knew that the next five years were a waiting game while she would take medicine with a whole new set of side effects, but she was still determined.

She went back to work acting; something she says she truly loves. She celebrated little milestones, like getting her first post-chemo haircut. Doherty says it felt amazing to get a bit of her womanhood back with the haircut. It might seem like something small, but it was important to her and made her feel good.

Unfortunately, Doherty recently announced that her lab work showed an elevated marker. One of the tumor marker tests came back good; the other elevated. She still remains positive and says the elevated test result can be caused by a lot of things so it doesn’t necessarily mean that her cancer is back.

Even if the cancer has returned, there is one thing that is certain; Doherty will fight back. She hasn’t given up throughout the battle, and she’s not likely to give up this time either. She’s also been extremely open with her journey, so as soon as she knows something, it’s likely that we will know too.
