Cheryl Angelelli may be paralyzed from the waist down, but she has never let that stop her from achieving her dreams in ballroom dancing.

“I may not dance with my feet,” Cheryl said. “I dance with my heart.”

Cheryl was only a teenager when she was paralyzed after hitting the bottom of a swimming pool.

“The day I had my accident, my life changed, but it didn’t change me,” she said defiantly.

Though she had serious injuries, Cheryl still moved on with her life and fell in love with ballroom dancing. In fact, she’s been so successful at it that she has risen to seventh in the world for wheelchair ballroom dancing.

Cheryl recently took the floor with her partner Tamerlan Gadirov for a major dance competition, and at the end, he even lifted her above him.

“I love hearing the crowd when I go up in the air,” Cheryl said, admitting that she used to scream when he would pick her up.

Not only did Cheryl win the event, she won everyone’s hearts as well.

“To know I touched so many lives through dance, it made me really, really happy that I can inspire people in that way,” she said.

Video of her performance has quickly gone viral, touching the hearts of people all over the world.

“So awesome that she still gets to do what she loves! More stories like this please,” one social media user commented, with another adding, “You just proved people can do anything they want and dream of, cheers to you.”
