Daniel Crase is a ten year-old boy from Oklahoma who was always best friends with his uncle Brian. His uncle was a perfect role model for him, and Brian always made sure to spend lots of time with his young nephew.

Sadly, Brian recently passed away from a heart attack, leaving Daniel without his best friend. Brian unfortunately did not have health insurance at the time of his death, meaning the cost of his funeral has fallen onto the family. Brian’s family was left needing about $5,000 to give him the proper burial, which was bad for them because they do not have very much money to begin with.

Daniel told his grandmother Brenda, who has raised him ever since he was born, that he wanted to raise the money for Brian’s funeral himself. Though Brenda was touched by this gesture, she said she had no idea how to go about raising the money.

“But I do,” a determined Daniel replied.

Daniel originally planned to sell his entire toy collection at his family’s yard sale, but when this didn’t work, he came up with another plan. Refusing to give up, Daniel asked his grandma to take him to the local Quick Way gas station.

“He set out a yard sale in our yard, it didn’t work, so he said ‘take me to the quick way because I’m going to raise money for my uncle Brian because that’s what I need to do nana,'” Brenda said.
