All parents know how annoying it is to have to wait for your kids to text you back. Kids always seem to be on their phone, yet replying to text messages from their parents seem to be their last priority. That’s why parents everywhere are rejoicing after a fed-up father created a new app that will lock your child’s phone until they return your texts.

Nick Herbert is a father from the United Kingdom who got tired of his son Ben never texting him back, so he took action.

“When I try and contact him, he rarely answers,” Nick said. “Either because he doesn’t hear the phone or because (and I’ve finally had to admit this to myself) he may be embarrassed to speak to his dad in front of his friends.”

Nick took matters into his own hands by creating the app RespondASAP, which will lock your kid’s phone until they respond to your message. When a text comes in, a notification will pop up on the screen over whatever the kid is doing. If the kid tries to ignore the noise, the phone will begin making a loud noise, even if it is on silent.

Nick said his son played a major role in helping him develop the app.

“During the development process, I spoke to Ben and showed him the designs and thinking behind the app and he likes the idea because he will know that if he gets one of these messages then he will always hear it and will know it’s important,” he said.
