When it comes to getting married, one of the most important things about your wedding day is having your family and friends there with you. That’s why Tara Foley was devastated when she learned that her 102 year-old grandmother would not be able to travel to her wedding.

“When my Nana was put on hospice, the nurse asked her what her goals were,” Tara recalled on Facebook.  “She replied that she wanted to be at my wedding.”

Sadly, it did not seem like this was going to be possible for Tara’s nana Stasia.

“They reluctantly told her they didn’t want her flying anymore,” Tara continued. “She was nearly 103 years old and her heart was failing.”

“I knew in my heart she was trying to hang on to get there somehow. I decided to fly to her with my wedding dress, it was unaltered and didn’t fit yet but none of that mattered,” she added.

Tara wanted to surprise her family and friends with the photos of her and her nana, so she told them some white lies about where she was that weekend. The only thing that was important was that her nana was part of her wedding celebrations.

“Words cannot explain how much these moments mean to me,” Tara said. “And I will cherish these memories for the rest of my life. Her smile and her laugh are forever etched in my mind and the love between us will live in my heart. This was one of the greatest days of my life.”

“When I said goodbye to her that night, I think we both knew it would be the last time we would see each other,” she contiued. “She grabbed my cheeks with her hands, looked me straight in the eye and said ‘I love you very much’, and 27 days later she passed away. I am so blessed to have this be my last memory with her.”

Tara is trying to look at the positive side of things, and she’s just happy she was able to share such a special last moment with her beloved nana. They both loved every minute of it, and internet users everywhere have been touched by their photos as well.
