If you’re anything like me, you love fresh strawberries. I love waking up in the morning and having strawberries with my breakfast. It’s delicious and a healthy way to start the day.

Unfortunately, strawberries spoil quickly if you wait too long to eat them, but there’s a way you can keep them fresh longer that you likely are not aware of.

Strawberries are an incredibly healthy addition to your diet because they are loaded with Vitamin C, folate, potassium, fiber, manganese, magnesium and tons of cancer-fighting antioxidants. Eating strawberries can improve brain function, boost eyesight, reduce high blood pressure, decrease symptoms of arthritis, and lower the risk of some cardiovascular diseases.

In order to keep your strawberries fresh for longer while they’re in your refrigerator, all you need is some white vinegar! All you have to do is mix one part white vinegar with 5 parts water in a bowl, then soak the strawberries in the vinegar mix for a few minutes. Once you have done this, the strawberries won’t spoil for a long time! It really is that simple!

This trick works because the vinegar gets rid of mold spores and other bacteria that start to rot away the strawberry. Don’t worry, the vinegar won’t make your strawberries taste different, and it simply cleans the fruit better than water alone.

We have one other tip for you as well! If you notice one moldy strawberry in the group, get rid of it immediately, as  this will prevent the mold spores from traveling to other berries.
