Believe it or not, you can buy pumpkin spice spam this fall. Yes, you read that correctly, you really can!

Hormel Foods Corp. just announced that they are selling pumpkin spice spam for a limited time beginning September 23 on Spam.com and Walmart.com.

“True to the brand’s roots, Spam Pumpkin Spice combines deliciousness with creativity, allowing the latest variety to be incorporated into a number of dishes, from on-trend brunch recipes to an easy, pick-me-up snack,” a publicist said.

This actually did begin as a joke back in 2017, when the company’s Facebook page teased pumpkin spice Spam on their Facebook page.

This product could end up being very popular, as it is the combination of two of America’s most beloved products: spam and pumpkin spice! Spam is a combination of various ingredients including pork with ham, salt, and potato starch. Invented in 1937, it became popular during World War II, when it was used to feed American troops. Meanwhile, pumpkin spice has been attributed to Starbucks, which released the legendary pumpkin spice latte in 2003.

Interestingly enough, the consumer analytics company Nielsen recently found that though the popularity of pumpkin spice is on the rise, “pumpkin spice” specifically was becoming less popular. Perhaps that’s because the market could be inundated with pumpkin spice products like pumpkin spice lip gloss and eye shadow, pumpkin spice butter, pumpkin spice Twinkies, and even pumpkin spice chicken wings!

While pumpkin spice spam will only be sold for a short time, other spam products can be enjoyed year round, including Spam with cheese, Spam teriyaki, Spam jalapeno and Spam oven-roasted turkey.
