Two thieves just penned an apology letter begging for forgiveness after they stole from a 5 year-old boy suffering from a brain tumor.

Timmy Vick was only recently diagnosed with the brain tumor, and he will need surgery to remove it. The only thing that was giving him strength during this difficult time was his wrestling belt, which he took everywhere with him. Timmy’s father sent the belt out to Sergio Moreira, a wrestling belt artist who refurbishes WWE replica belts and agreed to do so for them free of charge.

“I told him to just pay shipping and I would take care of the rest,” Sergio said. “I felt like it was the right thing to do for Timmy and his family. They have been through so much.”

Unfortunately, when the package arrived back at Sergio’s house, two thieves stole it right from their front porch.

Devastated and furious by what happened, Sergio sent the footage to his local news in the hopes that the thieves would see it and realize what they’d done.

“I want them to know they took hope from a 5-year-old boy who is looking forward to that item coming back to him,” Sergio said. “You stole that from him. You broke a child’s heart.”

Just two days after the footage aired, the thieves returned to Sergio’s home with the box of Timmy’s belts along with a four-page, handwritten apology letter.

In the letter, the woman explained that she was homeless, addicted to drugs, and was just “trying to make a quick dollar.” She added that they were “ashamed” and “embarrassed” by what they had done, adding that Timmy was the “real hero” and asking for forgiveness.

“We never wanted to steal a child’s hope,” she wrote. “After seeing ourselves looking like low lives on the news, we have both decided to get clean and sober.”

Sergio said the women were both crying and seemed very sorry when they returned the package. He responded by giving them a big hug and telling them he didn’t plan to press charges.
