Stress is something that affects millions of people every day, and it’s important we find ways to manage it.  Now, a very creative way to destress involves hanging out with some interesting company.

Based on the Dutch tradition of koe knuffelen, it has been revealed that hanging out with cows is a great way to relax. Suzanne Vullers brought the tradition to her farm in New York, and it’s already catching on like wildfire.

“When they chew their cud, they lay down and become really quiet, and that creates a perfect opportunity to connect with them and to be with them,” Suzanne said of Mountain Horse Farm.

Suzanne’s farm has two cows, Bella and Bonnie, and several times a week, visitors can come to cuddle with them and relax. The cows absolutely love getting visitors, and those who come to see them leave feeling refreshed and relax. It’s a win for everybody!

“It makes you forget everything around you,” Suzanne explained. “You forget that you have to pay your bills or you have to have your coffee… It immerses you in that activity.”

The cuddling sessions cost $75 an hour, but it is well worth the money, as you will get to know cows like never before.

“A lot of people don’t realise that cows have personalities, that they are all unique beings,” Suzanne said. “That they have likes and dislikes, that they are funny, that they know their names.”
