Just because a child has disabilities, it does not mean they can’t achieve anything they set their mind to. Now, a group of disabled kids from Arkansas is proving this to the world in a big way by making it to their state’s cheerleading championships!

Five years ago, a cheer program was created at Inspire Empire Cheerleading in Benton that aimed to give kids with disabilies the chance to enjoy the fun of cheerleading. The squad is completely made up of disabled children, and their mission is to allow them to connect with their peers through the sport.

Cheerleaders of all abilities can join the squad, which is completely free and funded through donations. The squad is incredibly inclusive and gives these kids the chance to accomplish things they never had before.

“I love just getting to cheer them on, I’m their biggest cheerleader,” one mother said. “Every accomplishment is just so much bigger when your child has disabilities. Those milestones mean a lot more.”

Last year, the squad participated in Arkansas’s first Special Olympic State Championship, and this year, they have two teams participating. One of the teams is red, and the other is white!

Hoping to ensure that this program sticks around, the squad’s organizers have posted videos of their routines online in an attempt to get more donations. The videos have quickly gone viral, inspiring people all over the globe!

“That is a great idea,” one person commented. “This is a good program for kids.”

“God bless them,” another added. “So wonderful that they are normal kids enjoying themselves.”
