White tigers are an incredibly rare type of tiger, as they are Bengal tigers with a genetic abnormality which causes them to be white.

While this process happens naturally, it only occurs in around 1,200 tigers in the entire world. White lions are even more rare than this, though they are caused by a similar genetic abnormality that causes their light skin and fur pigmentation. There are only around 300 white lions in the world, which is why it was such a huge deal when a male white lion and a female white tiger fell in love at the T.I.G.E.R. Sanctuary in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina!

A liger, which is the creature that is formed when a lion and a tiger breed, is also very rare, and there are only around 1,000 of them in the world, with most of them living in captivity. Now, workers at the T.I.G.E.R. Sanctuary think that they have bred the first ever white ligers. The four white liger cubs are the babies of Ivory the white lion and Saraswati the white tiger, and they could not be any cuter.

The white liger cubs are named Yeti, Odlin, Sampson, and Apolo. Dr. Andle, the founder of the T.I.G.E.R. Sanctuary, is already predicting that they will each grow to be enormous.

“I skip a day seeing them and it looks like they’ve doubled in size. It’s like someone’s blowing them up with a tire pump,” he said.
