Pineapples are known for being one of the most delicious foods in the world, but cutting them can be tedious and rather laborious. Now, a new hack is going viral that will allow you to cut into a pineapple without using a knife!

The video was initially posted by TikTok user @dillonroberts22, and it has immediately gone viral, leaving social media users everywhere shocked.

This strategy works because pineapples grow as individual berries, or “fruitlets,” that fuse together to form the core of the fruit as the plant matures. This means that pulling the chunks of fruit away, which is what happens in the video, makes much more sense than hacking away at the rind.

Though this hack does work, one person who tried it said that it might be more trouble than it’s worth.

“I found the experience to be quite untidy,” the person wrote. “Anyone who has eaten a pineapple knows that it is a particularly juicy fruit, so ripping and tugging pieces away from the core created quite a sticky mess.”

“Unless you want to try pulling the pineapple apart while sitting in the bathtub or leaning over a sink, I can’t imagine that this trick would be worthwhile,” the person continued. “It probably makes more sense to just put in the grunt work and cut the pineapple into bite-sized pieces the old-fashioned way.”
