Country music star Luke Bryan is currently serving as a judge on “American Idol” along with Katy Perry and Lionel Richie, and fans have noticed right away just how kind and generous this judging panel is. This week, Luke made a move to help a singer in need that once again shows that he is one of the nicest people working in music today.

“Hollywood Week” kicked off on Sunday night, and 100 singers took the stage in the hopes of progressing to the next round. One of these singers was 19 year-old Colby Swift, an aspiring country music singer who got a standing ovation when he performed “Before the Next Teardrop Falls” by Freddy Fender.

“That was crazy,” Colby said afterward. “I never thought I’d get a standing ovation, man. To have Luke Bryan, Katy Perry, and Lionel Richie stand up for me — it’s a blessing, man.”

When Luke invited Colby back onstage, he said he had a question for the teenager, as he had noticed that there were holes in his shoes.

Luke asked Colby for his size.

“I mean, whatever fits,” Colby answered, to which Luke said, “Well, I’m a 12D, and I’ll solve that little problem.”

With that, Luke took off his own boots and handed them to Colby!

Though Colby was later eliminated in the group round, he left with a gift from Luke that he will never forget. Social media users were touched to see that Luke would literally take the shirt off his back (or in this case the boots on his feet) to give to a contestant in need of a new pair.
