Charo, the Spanish-American singer and actress, has just spoken out to thank fans for their support one month after Kjell Rasten, her husband of 41 years, committed suicide.

“It’s been a month since my husband died,” Charo said in a video posted to her social media. “It’s very, very hard. I want to thank you with all my heart for your help, your prayers, your support – that kept me going.”

“I want to let you know that my husband supported my music … because he [knew] that I’m happy when I’m performing,” she added. “In his honor, I want to share with you, that I will continue – for his legacy, and for the love that I have for entertaining and making people happy.”

Charo went on to say that she’s been “meditating all this month,” before concluding, “‘Thank you with all my heart and God bless you all. I really need you and you were there.”

“Hola amigos, this message is to let you know that I love you all!” Charo captioned the video. “Thank you for your support. I want to tell you that life is very beautiful and we should enjoy every Single day and I look forward to sharing my days with you, my friends! Mucho amor!”

Rasten shot himself at the home he shared with Charo in Beverly Hills, California on February 18. He was rushed to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, where he tragically passed away. Charo released a statement afterwards saying that Rasten had long been plagued by serious health issues that had drastically impacted his quality of life.

“In recent years, his health began to decline and he developed a rare and horrible skin disease called bullous pemphigoid,” she said at the time. “He also became very depressed. That, along with the many medications he needed to take, became too much for him, and he ended his suffering.”

Please keep Charo and her family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
