In the months since she officially joined the British royal family, Meghan Markle has been breaking royal traditions left and right. Now, she is preparing to break a royal tradition once again with her first child.

The British royal family has a tradition when it comes to dressing their children. For boys, the royals prefer to dress them in shorts and knee socks, which is seen as a silent class maker in British society. For girls, the royals have them wear dresses with Peter Pan collars and delicate floral patterns.

Prince William and Kate Middleton have followed these traditions with their eldest two children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, but Meghan is rumored to be planning to go a different route with her own baby.

Meghan is an American who spent years living in the uber trendy world of Hollywood, and she is very into the latest designer outfits. Royal experts are saying that she will likely be dressing her baby in clothes from designer children’s clothing lines, rather than sticking to the traditional British royal clothing for kids.

One website just calculated that Meghan’s maternity wardrobe cost around an estimated $630,000, so she is not afraid to drop some serious cash on clothing. It remains to be seen how the British royal family would react if Meghan chooses to buck their tradition when it comes to dressing her child.
